10 simple steps to track, lock and erase data from your Android device
1.Go to the Google Settings app on your phone and click on "Android Device Manager" at the bottom.
2.Select the "Allow remote locking and factory settings restoration" box.
3. The "Locate this device remotely" button should already be clicked. If not, click on it.
4.Also check the "Allow remote locking and factory settings restoration" checkbox. A screen will pop up asking for permission to erase the device. Grant it permission.
5.Sign in to your Google account online and go to Android Device Manager.
6.On your device, go back to "Settings", then "Security", then "Phone Manager" and make sure "Android Device Manager" is selected.
7.In the online Android Device Manager, select the device you want to sync from the list of devices associated with your account.
8.From there you should see a map showing the location of your device. You should also see the options to 'Ring', 'Lock' and 'Erase' the device.
9.If you choose to lock your device, the device manager will ask you to set a new password, essentially locking the password you have previously saved.
10.If you choose to erase, a warning window will pop up. If you agree, the device will shut down and delete the data you have stored on it. Use this option only if your smartphone has been stolen or permanently lost.
